Meet the team

We are a family business, based in the beautiful, rolling countryside near Retford, Nottinghamshire. Priding ourselves on a professional and personal service; we offer our clients clear, considered and personalised advice on all areas of property strategy and management, across rural, residential and commercial sectors.

Our farming and agricultural background allows us to understand, first hand, the challenges and opportunities facing the rural community today, especially within our own region. Our mission is to always get the very best outcome possible for our clients and this is why we have so many returning customers and referrals.

As partners (and brothers,) we have complimentary skills; each with a particular field of expertise, balanced with a wide general knowledge across the profession. Andrew, with 30 years residential experience, and Tim, with 25 years agricultural experience. We are both RICS regulated and registered valuers.

Tim comes from an arable and livestock background having been brought up on the family farm in North Nottinghamshire. Having graduated from The Royal Agricultural College in 1995 in Rural Estate Management, Tim has worked principally in the East Midlands & South Yorkshire for nearly 25yrs.

With a wealth of experience in matters relating to rural agency, letting of land & property, valuation of property and chattels, auctioneering & professional work affecting the rural & commercial property owner.

Outside of work Tim other than helping on the farm or as an unpaid groom on his wife’s equestrian centre is a keen sportsman enjoying rugby & football (sadly now from the touchline) together with shooting when time permits.

Brought up on the family farm from where the business now operates; Andrew has lived locally since that time. A fellow of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors and a Regulated valuer, Andrew has over 31 years experience operating predominantly in the East Midlands, South and West Yorkshire.

He has been a partner and senior manager in well-known large multi-practice private and national corporate companies, undertaking and advising on a wide range of residential and commercial property related matters, including consultancy services to Severn Trent and Anglian Water. In this time Andrew built a reputation for getting the job done in a fair and approachable manner.

He has established, operated and run ‘Distinctive and Country Homes’ for both both private and corporate companies, having the pleasure of advising clients and selling some of the finest homes in the area over the years.

A former Chairman of the Yorkshire Valuer, he still conducts auctions for the firm and local and national charity events.

Outside of work he is still actively involved in the local community and is a Governor and Chair of Finance for a large local secondary school and active member of 41 Club.

He enjoys running his herd of Gloucester Old Spots woodland pigs. A former rugby and cricket player, Andrew now likes to watch the next generation of the family on the field, although he still manages to turn out for a local football side while his knees still work.

Lucie Johnson Silcock and Partners.jpg

Although relatively new to Silcock & Partners, Lucie has know Tim and Andrew for many years and currently works for Tim’s wife, Rachel, as a groom at Gamston Wood Livery.

After leaving school Lucie worked full time at a riding school for about a year before going on to work in other industries, including roles in sales and management. In 2006, motherhood ensued with her son's arrival, followed by her daughter in 2009.

However, when her daughter turned 5, Lucie made an important career decision to 'do what I love and that's horses... If you do what you love for a job then it doesn't really feel like work!' As well as working towards a coaching qualification, Lucie also runs her own freelance equestrian care business and in her spare time cares for her own two horses.

Testimonials

I want to express my sincere thanks for all your help and advice in dealing with the property. We got there in the end.

Thank you very much indeed for your tremendous energy and support at last Saturday’s Ploughing Match and Show at Oxton. The Auction has become a major attraction at the end of the Show each year and, I’m sure that it must have been rather daunting. When I stepped out of the marquee for a few moments to listen, it really did sound as if you had been doing this job for years - there was clearly a great banter between bidders and you managed to raise the price.

At the end of the day I think we raised somewhere in the region of £1,100 for the Society. This really helps to contribute towards costs and supporting the number of worthy charities and organisations who benefit from our work.
